Local Tourist Information Centres and Shops

Victoria Gate Information Centre, Royal Botanic Gardens Kew

2 Lichfield Rd, Richmond TW9 3JR, UK – 020 8332 5655

I loved our trip to Kew Gardens. It is so peaceful and has beautiful grounds. We walked so much, the greenhouses were amazing to see - we even saw an iguana!! The ducks are so friendly, they come so close to you. The kids had an awesome time and if you take a picnic it’s even better. Surrounding borough residents get discounted tickets so that’s a plus.

Interesting building and good information. Food and drinks here are pricey though as they have a fairly captive audience. The cafe can be very crowded on cold or wet days, although there are plenty of other food sales venues around the site. Extensive shop with a wide range of horticulture related products. Dear which gate you enter the site through, this is right by the entrance, so it makes a good start our end point for your trip.

River Thames Visitor Centre

Riverside, Richmond TW10 6UJ, UK – 020 8940 7500

Richmond Riviera doesn't have a visitor centre as such but you can stop at the main Library (not the lending library) and get an exposition or two of the wealth of history of Richmond thru the ages (and pick up what's on leaflets) Worth the stroll along the riverside, either West tow path towards the back of Kew Gardens, or East Towpath towards Ham village and Richmond Park. Ham House worth visiting their Victorian vegetable Gardens

Very fun and relaxed place to be in

Turk Boats launch richmond

River Thames, Richmond TW9 1NR, UK – 020 8546 2434

Good - but round trips from richmond to Hampton Court - you have to change boats - sometimes there's quite a wait for connecting boats. Check timetables.

Local Parks & Gardens

Osterley Park And House

Jersey Rd, Isleworth TW7 4RB, UK – 020 8232 5050

On a sunny day this is the place to be. If you have a dog, then it's going to love it too. Bring your kids along so that they can run around and experience nature like it should be. If you like running, then run in this park and it will be the best run you have ever had. The house is full of history and the lovely volunteers who conduct tours will take you through the story of the residents. Did you know some scenes of Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy was shot in Osterley house? It was Batman's house. Time to visit the house and watch the move again. The place has a couple of artificial and natural lakes around. You get to see some cows and horses grazing too. You wouldn't believe such a place existed in London. But if you have been to Richmond park then this is just a trailer for you. National Trust is doing a really good job at maintaining the House and its surroundings.

I went with a group of fellow members of the National Trust, our local Hastings branch. We were welcomed by a member of staff and given timed tickets to enter the house in small groups. The objects and decor on view gave us an insight to the way the owners over the centuries lived. Out in the gardens and lakes gave us a very varied view of the different and wonderful insight to the previous owners expertise. Well worth a visit so near to Central London. An American visitor asked why they had built the house so near to Heathrow airport .

Dean Gardens

65 Tawny Cl, London W13 9LX, UK

Small high street for Broadway West Ealing area. Good vegetable shops with wide selection of Asian goods. Excellent Halal butchers with nice cuts of meat. A few snack/takeaway businesses. Had a very good authentic curry lunch at the new Curry&Cake takeaway. Must try their cake selection. Yummy.

half an hour free parking but traffic tends to be heavy so be careful - not good for earing in but fine for takeaways, Cudi store has fresh Afghan bread in its bakery and a few nice places to eat along that part from Taste of Lahore, Abu Zaad & German Donner Kebab

Syon Park

Brent Lea, Brentford TW8 8JF, UK – 020 8560 0882

Loved it here. Beautiful house and gardens. The guides are friendly and helpful and have lots of information to share. The conservatory is beautiful. There is a cafe in the nursery next door that you can go in. We had a lovely afternoon tea for two. Great afternoon out.

Had a perfect lunch with a gorgeous friend sat outside in the beautiful sunshine . Spoke to Giles in the garden centre he was well informed and helped us in our search for a particular plant . The ice cream van outside was a jolly man too. The grounds are stunning so nice to return each time . Definitely worth a visit highly recommended

Great website!. Click below to find gardens open during the year around Hounslow or Middlesex. There are photos and lots of detail about the garden.
Syon House

Syon Park, Brentford TW8 8JF, UK – 020 8560 0882

Syon House has been at the centre of so much English history since the time of the Tudors. Notable residents include Catherine Howard, Lady Jane Grey, Pocahontas, and Queen Victoria. For visitors today it offers the beautiful conservatory and gardens, as well as the lavish interiors of the main house itself. The volunteer guides were all enthusiastic, informed, and generous with their time. There is a shop, but food is only available at the neighbouring garden centre. I would recommend the house to people with an interest in history, and the gardens to everyone (you can buy tickets to the gardens without entry to the house).

The house is very deceptive as it looks quite plain from the outside but hides great beauty and history inside. There are staff on hand in most rooms that are very knowledgeable and are very happy to provide any information about the house you may need. Well worth a visit

Osterley House

Isleworth TW7 4RB, UK – 020 8232 5050

Impressive old pile attributed to the renowned Robert Adam set in period garden in tranquil and pleasant surrounds. A dapple of woodlands, grasslands, a picturesque pond and some especially noteworthy veteran trees complete a quintessential stately setting. The ubiquitous cafe, here set in the original stables, is particularly atmospheric and noteworthy.

Spent a lovely afternoon at Osterley. The house is very interesting and the additional tour upstairs is really worthwhile taking. As with all NT properties the Cafe served good wholesome food. Extra interest here is the Second Hand Bookshop.
